The
annual golf outing has evolved into the tournament of choice
for fun and fellowship with charity-minded players. Morning
and afternoon shotgun starts with a captain’s choice
format accommodating a wide range of players with different
skill levels. Award presentations, prize drawings, Carolina cuisine and music complete the evening activities.
Initiated in 1996 as the Foundation’s
Spring Golf Classic, the event’s name was changed
in 1999 in memory of John A. Campbell, Jr., Director of
the Rowan Regional Medical Center Foundation from 1990-1998.
Fundraising results of the annual
Campbell Memorial Golf Classic are featured on a new wall
display between the sliding glass doors at the lobby entrance
to Rowan Regional Medical Center. The display was unveiled
during a special ribbon-cutting ceremony by Medical Center
and Foundation officials on October 16, 2003.
This display provides a public
record of the actual results of the annual special events
and the uses of the financial proceeds and expresses heartfelt
appreciation and sincere gratitude to the leaders, volunteers,
participants, contributors (sponsors, advertisers, donors)
and staff responsible for planning, organizing and successfully
completing the yearly Golf Classic.
