Rowan Regional Medical Center is a modern, full-service medical center serving the people of Rowan County and surrounding areas since 1936.
A private, not-for-profit facility, Rowan Regional offers the convenience of a community hospital with many of the medical advantages found in large medical centers.
Rowan Regional Medical Center provides acute care for the sick and injured; that is our purpose. In addition, Rowan Regional serves as the center of a growing network of doctors’ offices and medical clinics, which greatly enhance the quality of life in Rowan County.
Rowan Regional opened its doors in 1936 as Rowan Memorial Hospital and was dedicated to providing the very best in diagnosis and treatment at the lowest cost possible. Today’s facility remains dedicated to that very same cause.
The forerunner of Rowan Memorial Hospital was the Whitehead-Stokes Sanitarium, a private hospital that opened in 1898. In 1920, ownership of the facility was transferred to the public and its name changed to Salisbury Hospital.
The hospital was reorganized in 1932 and became known as Rowan General Hospital. Construction also began that year for a larger, more modern facility on Mocksville Avenue, the site today of Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Leaders of Rowan Regional Medical Center and its Foundation acknowledge the need as well as the responsibility to communicate regularly and effectively with the residents of Rowan County.
