The overall goal of the Partners in Progress Capital Campaign is to raise $25 million in pledges, payable over five years, to support the new and expanded Emergency Department and two floors of private patient rooms on top of the Wilson L. Smith Outpatient Center.
The projects are the priorities of Rowan Regional’s
$49.6 expansion-renovation program to keep pace with continuing
population growth and demand for more convenient healthcare
services. Funding will be secured through a combination
of debt financing and fundraising.
After securing the
employees’ goal of $500,000, the Capital Campaign
now focuses on raising $12.5 million from the other members
of the Medical Center “family:” the Auxiliary
(with a goal of $500,000), board members ($8,000,000)
and physicians ($4,000,000). The Auxiliary Board of Directors
approved on July 18, 2002 a pledge of $500,000, payable
over five years, to the Partners in Progress Capital Campaign.
After $13 million in pledges are secured from the Medical Center Physician/Family Participation Phase, the Campaign’s public kickoff will be scheduled and efforts will concentrate on raising the remaining $12 million from Rowan County businesses, families and area foundations.
An earlier
capital campaign, the Campaign for Tomorrow in 1995, raised
$10 million in pledges, surpassing a goal of $7.2 million.
In that campaign, Rowan County and Salisbury residents
provided generous financial support to construct the Wilson
L. Smith Family Outpatient Center and the Dr. and Mrs.
Glenn A. Kiser Medical Office Building.
